About us

Ludopoli* is a creative design and development studio based in Zurich with presence in London, Prague and Moscow. Through our international team of broadminded and intelligent designers and developers we are able to turn even the most complex brief into pleasing, user-friendly and meaningful products.

Be it a simple standards-compliant static website, a complex database-driven application, a cracking front-end design that's as easy to use as a spoon, or even working with us as consultants to get your vision off the ground – we can do it. In fact, not only will we do it, but we'll do it exceptionally well, because we love and take great pride in what we do.

It will thus come as no surprise that we are a happy and approachable bunch and believe that good communication is key to every project (our clients must agree as they keep coming back to us for more). Speaking of clients we have successfully worked with private individuals, charities, small- to medium-sized companies, and large international corporations (but not in this order).

As noted in our intro (click our logo if you've missed it), we are always available for an informal chat, even if your ideas are still very fuzzy (actually, we love giving fuzzy ideas shape). So read on and don't forget to waltz over to our contact page and give us a shout.

* Our name, Ludopoli (pronounce with emphasis on the first o), combines the Latin and Greek words ludo (play) and poli (town), thus creating a space for playing out concepts and ideas before presenting them to our clients or the wider public, always remaining conscious of cultural and social contexts.

The Swiss. We are still not sure what exactly his role is in the company (apart from being a co-founder). He's just involved in too many things. To name but a few, he's a developer, project manager, ex-politician and expert on youth participation through his work for the Council of Europe's Directorate for Youth and Sports. Dietrich decided to leave Switzerland a few years back, living in London for a while. And Moscow. And Lisbon. And Prague. We're secretly wondering when the Jason Bourne headaches will start.

The German. Using national stereotypes and the Bauhaus as the perfect excuse to promote clean and functional design, Max's specialty are utterly usable user interfaces (note the triple alliteration). His secret is a tested logical structure brought to live with sound typography and careful graphical detailing. Max's passion for graphic design also extends to teaching. At age 28, Max became Head of Design for BA (Hons) Graphic Design at the world-renowned Central Saint Martins College in London, where he spends half of his working week.

The Russian. An ex-pro skateboarder turned code guru, with detailed knowledge about security, databases, servers, nuclear submarines and M-80 Kickflips. Made everyone in the company feel somewhat inferior when he suddenly complained that it took him 'six months' until he could add Czech to his extensive repertoire of languages (we are not even counting programming languages here). Words (not even Czech) cannot express how glad we are he is on our side.
